FAQs

What is the best time of day to host a club?

SGNCs are generally 90 minutes long, running for four days in a row. We offer club times ranging from 9:00-10:30am to 6:30-8:00pm, with many options in between.

Choose the time that is right for you and your neighborhood! For example: if many of your neighborhood children are in daycare or summer school during the day, an evening club may be a better choice. If you’re not sure what time to choose, pick one that works for you. You can always adjust the timeslot for your next club based on your attendance this summer!

Do I have to teach anything?

No, hosts do not have to teach anything! We'll send you a team of 4-5 capable, trained teenagers who will teach the kids at your club.

If you have questions about the club or concerns with any of the teaching, feel free to communicate that with the team leader (Advanced Track student). Our older students are flexible and open to feedback from the club host. In most cases, however, the students far exceed the expectations of the host!

What kinds of snacks should I provide?

Kids love snacks of all shapes and sizes - and sometimes they come to club JUST for snacktime. We do suggest serving a variety of snacks throughout the week instead of serving the same thing every day, but the rest is up to you.

In our experience, kids love bags of chips, cookies, Goldfish crackers, and Takis. Consider offering something "super fun" on the final day of club, such as ice cream, popsicles, or Little Debbie treats.

Will anyone reach out to me beforehand?

Yes! Don't worry, we'll make sure you have everything you need in the weeks leading up to your club.

Once you fill out our Host Signup Form, you can expect to receive a planning guide to help you prepare for club. 2-4 weeks before your club, you will receive a Host Packet with invitations and a sign for your yard. During the week before your club begins, you will be contacted by your club's teen team leader to confirm final club details.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact our summer staff by emailing cefofficeomaha@gmail.com.

What if no kids come to my club?

Sometimes this happens! If no kids come to your club, the team of teen teachers will help you canvas your neighborhood with flyers, inviting kids to come the next day. Oftentimes, this solves the problem

If your club is small, don't feel discouraged. Every child is precious to God, and the Gospel message is valuable even if only one child hears it during your club.

Please reach out to Brandon Shippy (brandon@cefofomaha.org) if you have any other questions.
