What is a Good News Club?
Fun 90-minute Bible clubs that meet weekly during the school year. Each club session features snacks and prizes, games, songs, prayer, Bible lessons and memory verse activities.
Who teaches the clubs?
Clubs are led by teams of individuals from local churches who have received training from CEF, completed a background check and care about helping kids know Jesus.
Where are the clubs held?
In 2001, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to allow CEF's after-school Good News Clubs to meet in any public elementary schools where other after-school programs are permitted.

How do I get involved?
Whether you’re looking to get involved as an individual or as a church family, we’d love to partner with you! Just email Brandon Shippy at brandon@cefofomaha.org, and we will be in touch.
Already been in contact with us? Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the link to our Annual Volunteer Signup. There you can complete all the necessary legal forms (background check, statement of faith, references, etc.) to become an approved volunteer with CEF Omaha and Good News Club.
Can my church sponsor a Good News Club?
Yes! Our mission involves partnering with local churches to reach unchurched children in their communities. Each GNC school has a partnering church who has agreed to sponsor and run the club (using training and materials provided by CEF).
If your church is interested in starting a Good News Club at a nearby school, email brandon@cefofomaha.org to discuss partnership.
What exactly is taught at Good News Club?
Each club session features snacks and prizes, games, songs, prayer, Bible lessons and memory verse activities. Every element of club intentionally reinforces the simple main point for the day, making big truths understandable for young children.
Our curriculum comes from Child Evangelism Fellowship at the international level: learn more HERE. This year (2026-27), children will learn about Jesus, David, Esther, and Peter, split up into 6-week units.
What does volunteer commitment look like?
CEF Omaha requires each church to have four committed volunteers present at each week of club. Team members can teach, lead a small group, pray for club, provide snacks, and take attendance - there is a role for everyone at Good News Club!
